Wisdom -- something not often found in today’s culture (3/1/09)

NOTE: The following message and the related Scriptures below, can be utilized along with: A Suggested Format for Home Worship

“Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters….” [Isaiah 55:1-2]

Like others, I have a popular website home page. And, without fail there are a continual barrage of evolution inspired “news” pieces, highlighting the latest [so-called] “discoveries.” Today’s was: “Fossil skull of giant toothy seabird found in Peru.” And, as usual, the so-called “scientific” finding, affixed a specific calendar date as to the extinct animal’s living days. This one was given “up to 10 million years ago.”

It never ceases to amaze me how these so-called “scientists” are so sure of themselves. Without batting eyelashes, these “scientists” are all over the historic board past, affixing certain ancient dates to their newly discovered fossil remains. Yet in their human wisdom, they only conjecture what they are convinced is reality according to their unproven [flawed and fallacious] theory of evolution. Please refer to past topical message:
Evolution -- A "Pseudo 'Science'" -- Rejected by Jesus Christ (2/26/06)

It is no small wonder why our culture becomes so screwed up – just one example in the area of money [finance]:

I came across a New York Post news piece describing a Democrat who was having problems with his political party’s president huge spending spree:
Top Dem: O’s Budget Needs a ‘Scrub.’”

It truly is refreshing to read something like this – especially when the majority political party of our country fell head over heels and with grease lightening speed voted in President Obama’s humongous debt wrenching spending initiative. And, they did this, without the common sense sanity of reading the multi hundred page bill and rationally putting it through reasonable scrutiny. What the one political party did, was to force through both houses of Congress a budget breaking, debt ridden spending bill – and then have the rationalizing [dishonest] crust, to call it a “Stimulus Bill.”

My point? The point being, there was no godly wisdom considered when pushing through a huge spending bill which was [and is] obviously flawed and will have deep seeded confining implications for the next generation or two. When the Divine revelation of God’s wisdom is not sought after and followed, there will be negative ramifications and consequences. Our country as a nation has been spreading itself too thinly, expecting foreigners to buy up our nation’s accumulated debt. As a result, our nation is putting itself into financial bondage and slavery:

The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender [Proverbs 22:7]

The Hebrew and Christian Scriptures speak of a Divine “Wisdom” as opposed to a “Worldly Wisdom:”

Worldly wisdom [defined by Webster] is that “wisdom” which is the “carnal policy of men, their craft and artifices in promoting their temporal interests.” This same temporal wisdom is termed "earthly, physical, demon-like," as opposed to the wisdom of God, which comes from "above." [James 3:13-18 ; 1 Corinthians 2:1-2]

True wisdom is that which finds its expression in the true God:

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. [Proverbs 1:7]

Webster defines [true] wisdom:

"In Scripture theology, wisdom is true religion; godliness; piety; the knowledge and fear of God, and sincere and uniform obedience to his commands. This is the wisdom which is from above." [Psalm 90 ; Job 28]

The major mistake of the culture:

The chief mistake of any culture is that of rejecting the Lord of Life and Creator of all. [Acts 17:16-34] Ignoring and / or rejecting the One who created all and to whom we must give account, is not only folly but arrogance that will have damning eternal implications. When Triune God Almighty is not revered above all else, calamity is sure to follow. [Psalm 9:17] The God of human history will not be ignored and mocked. He renders to his creation the free moral will to accept Him or to reject Him. [John 3:14-21 ; Luke 16:19-31; Matthew 25:31-46]

May the Triune God grant, by his grace and mercy, those who have ears to hear, the understanding; will and, to do, of all of His good pleasure. Amen.
